Microservice Architecture Active

AI Engine.

A standalone Python-FastAPI processing core engineered to decouple intelligent logic from UI systems. Designed for asynchronous task orchestration and modular model deployment.

The Challenge

AI functionality is often tightly coupled within monolithic apps, creating massive technical debt and making it impossible to scale individual model workers without affecting the entire system.

The Core Engine

I built a standalone engine using FastAPI that acts as a universal router for AI tasks. Whether it's document processing or chat, the engine treats each as a plug-and-play module.

Engine

Processing Pipeline

01. Request Routing

FastAPI endpoints ingest unstructured data and route them to specific model handlers via an API-first gateway.

02. Transformation

Model pipelines process sentiment, intent, or document extraction using optimized Python workers.

03. Structured Output

The engine returns Pydantic-validated JSON schemas, ready for consumption by any frontend service.

Engineering Decisions

  • /Implemented independent microservice architecture to allow horizontal scaling of AI workers.
  • /Designed an extensible model-router pattern for adding new AI capabilities without downtime.
  • /Used Docker containerization for consistent deployment across cloud environments.
  • /Leveraged FastAPI's asynchronous support to handle concurrent processing requests efficiently.

The Result

"A modular AI backbone that serves as a universal intelligent layer, reducing integration time for new apps by 70% while maintaining complete architectural isolation."
